e-Gate for Resident Aliens

Introduction

e-Gate was launched on January 1, 2012. It provides automated and efficient immigration clearance for eligible travelers by using biometric verification technology. Instead of face-to-face inspection, e-Gate processes immigration clearance service with user’s biometric information within 10 seconds.

Eligibility

Note: For U.S. GE members who currently don’t have any residency in Taiwan, please check e-Gate/U.S. Global Entry Program for detailed information.
Resident aliens in Taiwan aged 14 and above and at least 140 cm tall are eligible for free enrollment to use e-Gate, if you have a valid passport and one of the documents below:

  1. Alien Resident Certificate with multiple re-entry
  2. Alien Permanent Resident Certificate
  3. Foreign diplomats or staff of international organizations holding Diplomatic Identification Cards issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan

Enrollment

For enrollment, applicants are required to present valid passports and Alien Resident Certificates or Diplomatic Identification Cards, and submit biometric information , including photograph and fingerprints.

  1. Applicants can enroll in person at one of the following NIA enrollment centers:

  2. Applicants are required to re-enroll after passport or Alien Resident Certificate renewal.
  3. After enrollment, applicants can use e-Gate before the expiration date of re-entry permits.

How to use e-Gate

Note: For U.S. GE members who currently don’t have any residency in Taiwan , please check e-Gate/U.S Global Entry Program for detailed information.
After successful enrollment, applicants can use e-Gate by placing Alien Resident Certificates or one of the following documents onto the document reader at the entrance of e-Gate:

  1. Resident aliens: Alien Resident Certificates
  2. Foreign diplomats or staff of international organizations: Foreign Passports

Applicants can use e-Gate at the following ports in Taiwan:

  1. Taipei Songsang Airport
  2. Taoyuan International Airport
  3. Taichung International Airport
  4. Kaohsiung International Airport
  5. Kinmen Shueitou Port
