e-Gate

1. Overview

  • Malaysian travelers are eligible for the use of e-Gates (prior enrollment is required) during arrival immigration clearance at R.O.C. (Taiwan) checkpoints starts from 2 October, 2024.

2. Eligibility

  • To enroll for the e-Gate service, you shall meet the following requirements:
    1. (1) Be a Malaysian e-passport holder and on a visit (tour, business, etc.) to Taiwan;
    2. (2) Be at the age of 12 or above, and at least 140 cm tall.
  • You will not be eligible for using the e-Gate service if you have adverse records or any ground for disqualifications.

3. Procedure & Enrollment Centers

  • Procedure
    1. (1) To enroll, you will be required by NIA officers to present an e-passport which is valid for at least 6 months, submit an electronic application form, and have your photo and fingerprints taken by NIA officers at an enrollment center in Taiwan.
    2. (2) The eligibility for e-Gate service will be re-assessed when you change to a new passport or obtain an Alien Resident Card (ARC), so a re-enrollment will be required.
    3. (3) An Ink endorsement of e-Gate usage will be granted on the last page of your passport after the enrollment is approved.
    4. (4) The service is free-of-charge.
    5. (5) If you intend to deactivate the e-Gate service, you are required to apply for it at any enrollment center in person, which is free-of-charge.
  • e-Gate enrollment centers:
    Enrollment Centers are either located in airports, ports or NIA service centers. To find an e-Gate enrollment center closest to you, please check the list below:
    1. (1) Arrival halls and departure halls at the Taoyuan International Airport, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
    2. (2) Arrival halls and departure halls at the Taipei Songshang Airport, the Taichung International Airport, the Kaohsiung International Airport, the Kinmen Shuitou Port, the Keelung Port and the Kaoshsiung Port.

4. How to use?
